Raymond P. "Ray" Schutz, age 90 of Hastings and formerly of Cottage Grove, died peacefully at Regina Senior Living on Thursday afternoon, November 4, 2021. Raymond P., the son of Paul and Marie (Berg) Schutz, was born on October 1, 1931, in Elmwood, Wisconsin. Following his graduation from Elmwood High School with the class of 1950, Ray enlisted in the Untied States Army where he served during the Korean War. On February 17, 1952, Ray was united in marriage to Arlene Reinhardt in Woodville, Wisconsin and they enjoyed attending many dances together, going on cruises, and created many memories prior to her passing on December 23, 2009. Ray was a longtime building engineer with Fischer Nut Company prior to retiring. Later in life, he enjoyed taking yearly trips back to where he grew up and reminiscing on how life has changed. He also enjoyed cars of all types, often buying a new one on a regular basis. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter (Angie) Schutz; wife, Arlene; and by his grandson, Eric Green. Ray is survived by his two children, Jan (Ron) Green and Randy (Debbie) Schutz; grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Gunter, Brandon (Liz) Green, Ryan Schutz, and Amber Schutz; great grandchildren, Austin, Allie, Meghan, Maddie, Morgan, Connor, Ben, Beth, and Evalyn; and by other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2021, at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings, with Pastor Jon Zimpelmann of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Military Honors by the VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 will also take place on Monday. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
