Raymond J. Feidt, age 85 of Hastings died Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home. Ray was born March 10, 1929 in Hastings to Eugene and Susan (Herber) Feidt. He attended Hastings schools and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Ray married MaryEllen Albrecht at St. Agnes Catholic Church in St. Paul on October 17, 1953. He retired from Smead Manufacturing after 40 years. Rays memberships included the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping, woodworking and loved to "putter" with things. His family was his greatest joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Brandon, son-in-law Dennis McCarty, siblings Theresa Knowlton, Arnold Feidt, Bernard Feidt and Rita Bauer. Ray is survived by his wife MaryEllen; children Louise (Greg) Miller, Eugene (Rhonda) Feidt, Anthony (Zandra) Feidt, Renee McCarty, Daniel (Karlene) Feidt, Anita (Thomas) Endres, Gregory (Arlis) Feidt, Jeanette Feidt, Donald (Anne) Feidt, Jennifer (Troy) Gelbmann and Robert (Tanya) Feidt; also 28 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; siblings Edward Feidt, Marie Elizabeth "Betty" Hoffman and Francis "Fritz" (Marian) Feidt. The Memorial Mass, officiated by Fr. David Hennen will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 29 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth St. West, Hastings, with visitation after 9 AM at church. Interment, with Military Honors provided by the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad will follow in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
