Raymond W. "Ray" Rowan, age 77, of Hastings died Monday at United Hospital in St. Paul after a brief illness. Ray was born July 25, 1936 in Hastings to John and Martha (Huberty) Rowan. He attended Hastings schools and graduated with the class of 1954. He married his high school sweetheart Georgia Robinson September 10, 1955 at Guardian Angels Church in Hastings. They lived in various places around the country including Raleigh, NC, Portland, OR, Naperville, IL and Paletine, IL. They moved back to Hastings in 1990. Ray was CEO and President of PRS, Inc. He was an active community volunteer and also in his church. He was a past Grand Knight of the Hastings Knights of Columbus Council 1600, and instrumental in the K of C Tootsie Roll Fundraiser. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lois Rowan and a brother John "Pat" Rowan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Georgia, 6 children Jean (Steve) Mattila, Ray (Linda) Rowan, Tim (Kay) Rowan, Mary (Michael) Kocak, Pat (Mary) Rowan all of Hastings and Diane (Kelly) McCoy of Ellsworth, WI; 15 grandchildren Lynn (Jennie) Mattila, Robert (Kelli) Mattila, Jesse Mattila, Rachel (Rob) Loeber, Tim (Katy) Rowan, Katie, Amy Annie Rowan; Michelle Kocak, Michael Kocak, Taya McCoy (Thomas) Larson-McKinney; Jim McCoy, Matthew Rowan, Dan Rowan (Kat) Watts Rowan, Joe (Brittany) Rowan. Great grandchildren are Tanner Mattila, Allison Loeber, Hunter, Cameron, Lucas Rowan; Gibson McCoy, Jacob McCoy, Vanessa Rowan and Athren Rowan; he is also survived by a sister-in-law Margie Rowan of Hastings. Funeral Mass with Father Jim Perkl officiating, will be Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth St. West, Hastings. A visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 9:00-11:00 AM. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Rays grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
