Priscilla Ann Groves

September 3, 1931 — November 1, 2025

Apple Valley Chapel

Priscilla was born in Pittsfield, MA on September 3, 1931, to Aubrey and Alice Desmond. Priscilla graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1949, where she met her high school sweetheart, John Groves. They were married in 1951.

After marriage, Priscilla worked at the General Electric Company and the Mutual Fire Insurance Company. She worked while she waited for her beloved husband to return from Korea, where he served as a Marine. When John returned from Asia, they started their family and raised 3 wonderful children. Her wish was to raise her children and manage the family at home, thus never returning to work at GE.

As Priscilla raised her family with John, she was a member of the First Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Dalton Community Center where she participated in water aerobics for 40 years. She made lifelong friends everywhere she went. Priscilla was a lamp lighter and leader, and brought fun and laughter to every person she would meet along the way. She never missed a sporting event and would love to watch her three children learn to ski.

Priscilla’s soulmate and husband, John, passed away on March 9th of 2014, after 64 years of marriage. She missed him right up to the day of her passing.

After spending her entire life in Pittsfield, in 2016 at the age of 84, she moved into her own townhouse in Apple Valley, MN to be close to her son Scott and wife Ekaterina. Minnesota gave her many new adventures including: LA Fitness water aerobics, going to the Mall of America, sitting with neighbors in her driveway, and going to Target daily to have coffee with friends. She also continued her practice of ordering things she did not need from QVC during the late hours of the evening. We are sure QVC will miss her as well!

Priscilla is preceded in death by: husband John, daughter Deborah Powers, and brother Aubrey “Des” Desmond. She is survived by her other 2 children, Stephen Groves and wife Pam, Scott Groves and wife Ekaterina, and former daughter-in-law, Karen Groves.

She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Christopher Groves (Laura), Shelby Groves Patton (Mike), Trevor Groves, Justin Powers, Sienna Powers Strack (Kyle), Megan Groves Kluge (Chad), and Emily Groves Simpson (Cory). Priscilla is also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Lilly Patton, Sophia Marie Groves, Charlie Kluge, Ellie Kluge, and Eddie Simpson.

There will be no calling hours.
