August 23, 1931 — April 8, 2020

Phyllus J. Morris, age 88 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2020, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Phyllus June, the daughter of Charles and Fern (Moyer) Iler, was born on August 23, 1931, in Chesterton, Indiana. Following her education, Phyllus was united in marriage to Thomas Jones in 1950 and later divorced. She then married Curtis Morris in 1955 and he later preceded her in death. Phyllus was a longtime crossing guard in Detroit, Michigan, and loved the many connections and friendships she made over the years. As they moved, she also held various jobs as a maid and house supervisor. She was also blessed to work with those with developmental disabilities through MRCI. Phyllus enjoyed volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul and Hastings Family Service, and was also a dedicated member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing, and taking photos. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and by her three siblings. Phyllus is survived by her children, Nick (Mary) Jones, and Rose (John) Fear; grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Anne, J.C., and Stephanie; great grandchildren, Malia, Dominic, and Marina; many step children; sister, Rose Tarnow; and by other relatives and friends. In keeping with Phyllus' wishes, no formal memorial service will be held. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
