Peter "Pete" Zajac

Peter James “Pete” Zajac, age 41, of Hastings, passed away on October 28, 2025.

Pete was born in Hastings and grew up in Wyoming, Minnesota. For the past 11 years, he and his family made their home in Hastings, where he was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

Pete proudly served as a police officer for the Cities of Faribault and Farmington. He served in Farmington for 15 years, most recently as the School Resource Officer for Farmington Schools, where he was admired for his compassion, humor, and connection to students and staff alike.

Outside of work, Pete found joy in the outdoors—whether hunting, fishing, or spending time on the lake. He loved cheering on his children at their sporting events, coaching Little and Middle Raiders Football, grilling in the backyard, maintaining his lawn, and keeping his garage perfectly organized. Pete’s easygoing nature, generosity, and sense of humor made him someone everyone loved to be around.

Above all, his greatest joy was his family. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Laura; his children, Ben, Noelle, and Joey; his parents, Dave and Jodie Zajac; his sister, Meghan (Jake) Claussen; nephew Joshua and niece Lucy; his parents-in-law, Lorne and Sharon Eide; and brother-in-law Jake (Lindsey Zhang) Eide.

He will be remembered for his selfless heart, his devotion to his family, and his ability to make others laugh and feel at ease. Pete’s love for his children will live on in those who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment for close family and friends will follow at the parish cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, November 6, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings. There will not be a public visitation on Friday, but all are welcome to a luncheon at church following the service.
