Paul Welshons, the founder and longtime owner of DCA Title, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, April 26, 2020, at the age of 93. Paul R., the son of Adam and Martha (Sieben) Welshons, was born on November 16, 1926, in Hastings. He attended Guardian Angels Catholic School and graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1944. Paul then enlisted in the United States Army during WWII, and later received an Honorable Discharge. Following his return to Minnesota, Paul attended the University of Minnesota and met the love of his life, Rita A. Schwartzhoff, and was later married on October 4, 1947. Paul began working as a Deputy Register of Deed's for his father, and later started DCA Title in 1957. He continued to operate the business until selling to his sons in 1989. Over the years, Paul was a very active volunteer throughout Hastings and in the Minnesota Land Title Association. Paul was a very generous man who enjoyed supporting various organizations within the community any way he could. Paul was also a seventy-two year member of the Knights of Columbus 1600 in Hastings, as well as a dedicated member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Paul loved playing golf and was a member of the Hastings Country Club. Most of all, Paul enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
