Paul Braaten, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Paul was born and raised in Elk Mound, Wisconsin and graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1958. After high school, he worked as a heavy equipment operator with Edward Kraemer & Sons, where he continued to work for 40 years. He married his wife, Kathy, in 1967 and they soon moved to Lakeville, MN, where they raised their children and built a life in the Lakeville community.
Paul will be remembered as a kind and genuine man who valued what mattered most—faith, family, and friendship. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan who loved showing off his shareholder certificate and took great pride in being a part-owner of the team. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: playing cards, visiting with friends, watching his grandchildren in their activities and spending time with loved ones. He was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady faith, and humble spirit. More than anything, Paul wanted to be remembered as a nice guy—and he truly was!
Paul was proceeded in death by his parents, Melvin & Ellen Braaten; and his brothers, Lawrence and Merlyn Braaten.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Kathy; his children, Tom (Christy) Braaten, Kristy (Bill) Asmus, and Tim (Kimberly) Braaten; and his grandchildren, Paula, Carl, Lauren, Emily & Ryan.
