Patricia P. Schmitz, age 96, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026.
Patricia was born on April 4, 1930, in Hastings, Minnesota, to Albin “A.P.” and Ethel (Corcoran) Schmitz. She attended Guardian Angels Elementary School and graduated from Hastings High School with the Class of 1948. She continued her education at the College of Saint Benedict and the University of Minnesota.
Throughout her life, Patricia worked as a receptionist and secretary, along with holding a variety of other positions over the years. She spent 10 years living in San Francisco, a time in her life she greatly enjoyed, before deciding it was time to return home to Hastings.
Patricia had a strong personality and a loving heart. She enjoyed having fun and spending time with family and friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, and swimming. As her health declined, she continued to enjoy playing cards, participating in activities, and spending time with the friends she had made.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Albin “A.P.” and Ethel Schmitz; stepmother, Mae Schmitz; sister, Beverly Cook; brothers-in-law, Roger Cook and Jerome “Jerry” Rohr; nephews, Robert and Matthew Cook; niece, Ann Rohr Nelson; and great-niece, Ava Watson.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Rohr; nephews, Scott (Alexandra) Rohr and their children, Azalea, Neil, and Echo; Mark (Sue) Rohr and Mark’s children, Erin and Ally (Rick), and their daughter, Addison; and Kent (Cindy) Rohr and their children, Peter and Sarah; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Interment will take place at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings at a later date.
