Patricia Kelley Giddings

October 24, 1923 — February 5, 2022

Patricia Kelley Giddings, Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Aunt, age 98, of Hastings, MN, died peacefully on February 5, 2022. Pat was born in Grafton, ND on October 24, 1923, to George Kelley & Florence Gunn Kelley. She moved with her family to Winona, MN, where she attended Catholic grade school and high school. She was a 1945 graduate of the College of St Teresa, where she majored in mathematics, physics and English. She also accompanied the choir on the piano, including for her graduation ceremony. Pat married Horace G. “Bud” Giddings on December 28, 1946. They eventually settled in Hastings, MN. She was a teacher in the Hastings public schools, including teaching students with learning disabilities. Pat was active in St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where she served as a Trustee and lector, as well as singing in the choir. She was a founding member of the Hastings branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and participated in branch activities up until her death. Pat enjoyed the annual family driving trips, usually to the Western United States. After retirement, she and Bud enjoyed their travels to Ireland, Greece and Turkey, and most especially visiting their children and grandchildren in Montana. Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bud; her parents; and her sister, Mary Murphy. She is survived by daughter, Maureen (Scott) Kleckner of White Bear Lake, MN; son, Brian (Beth) Giddings of Helena, MT; daughter, Mary (Jeff) Jaraczeski of Great Falls, MT; grandchildren, Megan and Kipton Giddings, Luke and Elizabeth Jaraczeski; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W. in Hastings. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St, Hastings, and one hour prior to mass at church on Saturday. Interment will follow mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery and a reception will be held after the burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The family would like to thank Hastings Senior Health and Living, St. Croix Hospice, and The Pillars of White Bear Lake, for their compassionate care of Pat the past few months. In addition, the family is appreciative of the many friendships Pat had through AAUW. Memorials preferred to Hastings AAUW or donor’s choice.
