Patricia Ann Richmond

Patricia A. Richmond, age 55 of Hastings, died suddenly on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Cottage Grove. Patricia Ann, the daughter of Kermit E. and Bette A. (Cross) Richmond, was born on September 14, 1960 in Winona. At a young age her family moved to Hastings where she attended school. Patricia was united in marriage to Timothy J. Salmela and was blessed with two children, Elizabeth and Jordan, prior to their divorce. She was a longtime employee at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings. Patricia enjoyed gardening, listening to music, especially the Beatles, collecting antiques and loved all types of animals. She was preceded in death her parents and grandparents, William H. and Margaret E. Cross. Patricia is survived by her children, Elizabeth Salmela and Jordan Salmela, both of Hastings; her only granddaughter, Jasmine Forsythe; her siblings, Linda Richmond and Kermit E. Richmond Jr, both of Hastings; her former husband and still significant other, Timothy Salmela of Cottage Grove; her former sister-in-law, Charlene Richmond-Tharaldson of North Dakota; her nieces and nephew, Lisa Mendez-Tharaldson, Hannah, Emma and Mitchell Richmond all of Hastings; and by many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings where Patricia will be laid to rest with her parents and grandparents. Visitation will be held on Friday for 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
