Patricia A. "Patty" Ladd

Patricia "Patty" Ladd, age 80 of Hastings, died peacefully at The Moments Memory Care in Lakeville on Thursday morning, December 30, 2021. Patricia Ann, the daughter of Melvin and Lois (Braun) Penke, was born on March 17, 1941, in Danube, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Danube High School, Patty was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Ladd on August 10, 1962 at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Patty began her career working as a telephone operator until her first child was born. She then began her longtime career with the US Post Office, first in St. Paul as a mail carrier, and later as a Clerk at the St. Paul Park Post Office until retiring after twenty-six years. Patty and Bob took every opportunity they could to travel, even on extended trips world-wide. They also accomplished visiting every state and part of Canada on a Harley Davidson. She always enjoyed a good craft show, and was sure to light up the room with her sense of humor. Patty was an exceptional grandma that truly cherished every minute with her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, baking, and being adventurous with new things in life. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her siblings, Jim Penke and Joan Santjer. Patty is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Robert; children, Robert Jr. (Gabriella) Ladd, Scott (Brenda) Ladd, Tim Ladd, and Shelly (Charles) Wick; grandchildren, Robert III (Lindsay) Ladd, Matthew (Alanna) Ladd, and Alex, Andrew, and Emma Wick; great grandson, Zachary Ladd; siblings, Karen Hanson, Janice (Robert) Swanson, Greg Penke, Renae (Lee) Carlson, and Randi (Dave) Usher; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Pastor Jon Zimpelmann officiating. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and also for one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday morning. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
