Patricia A. "Pat" Hankes-Bauer, age 83 of Hastings, died peacefully on Thursday morning, December 26, 2019, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Patricia Ann, the daughter of Carl and Freda (Herkenratt) Hankes, was born on May 2, 1936, in Hastings. She attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1955, and was proud to still meet monthly with her fellow classmates for lunch. In November of 1964, Pat was united in marriage to Norbert Kimmes. Following Norbert's passing, Pat later married James B. "Jim" Bauer in August of 1972. After high school, Pat worked briefly at Smead Mfg., and retired from Hastings Star Gazette with over twenty years of service. Pat thoroughly enjoyed her favorite TV shows: All My Children, Jeopardy, and of course, The Price Is Right. She was also a roller-skate queen, avid bowler, and a dedicated Minnesota Twins & Viking Fan. Pat also enjoyed crosswords, puzzles, word searches, coloring, playing cribbage and euchre, and most of all, spending time with children, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Dale Hankes, James "Justin" Hankes, Carla Reichenberg, Joanne Kersetter, and Marlene Hankes-Olesen; both husbands; many other dear in-laws from the Hankes, Kimmes and Bauer families. Pat is survived by her children, Jaci (Terry) Crisp, Chuck (Rachelle) Kimmes, Russ (Nancy) Kimmes, and Brenda (Chad) Kieffer; grandchildren, Ben (Jody), Katie (Ted), Aubrey (Jared), Emily (Matt), Andrea, Ethan, Simon (fiancee, Ally), Lily, Linsey, Elliot, and Seth Patrick; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Keith Hankes, Mike Hankes, Janice Hankes-Langenfeld, Lois (Tom) Soleim, Linda Hamman, and Elizabeth Hankes; sister-in-law, Ginny Hankes; the extended Kimmes Family; dear friend, Rita Murphy; and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Paris Pasch officiating. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
