Olivia M. (Gerster) Lorentz

Olivia M. (Gerster) Lorentz, age 92, of Hastings, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Regina Nursing Home.� � Olivia was born December 9, 1916 in Hampton to Edward and Dorothy (Peine) Gerster. She married Mark J. Lorentz on August 31, 1937 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. Prior to her retirement, Olivia was lead cook at the Hastings High School for 17 years. � � She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark; and brother, Al Gerster. � Olivia is survived by her daughters, Mary (Mel) Schanno of Hastings, Ann (Dennis) Hoffmann of Red Wing, Jane (David) Kelley of Hudson, WI; foster son, Leon (Ruby) Ott of Ft. Madison, IA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great- great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Molitor, Lorraine Rother, Dorothy Werner, all of Hastings, Alvera Niebur of Miesville, and Kathleen Leifeld of Vermillion; sister-in-law, Bonnie Gerster of Hampton. �The Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. James Perkl, will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth Street West, Hastings, followed by interment�in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, from 4:00-7:00PM at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. The pallbearers are Wayne Rother, Charles Molitor, David Werner, Rick Gerster, Al Niebur, and John Leifeld.��
