Morris J. Chamberlain, age 66 of Hastings, died peacefully on Sunday morning, February 26, 2017, at United Hospital in St. Paul, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Morris John, the son of Harold and Edith (Stoudt) Chamberlain, was born on February 16, 1951, in Minneapolis. Following his graduation from Hastings High School in 1969, Morris was united in marriage to Dorothy "Dottie" Schwab on December 29, 1969, in St. Paul. Morris was a former employee of 3M and longtime owner of Hastings Electric. He also enjoyed life on the farm and caring for his animals and working with his children and grandchildren on 4-H projects. Morris family always came first and he was always willing to help his many friends and neighbors whenever they needed it. He served in the past as a trustee for the Methodist Church and as a supervisor on the Nininger Township Board. He was preceded in death by his parents. Morris is survived by his wife, Dottie; his children, Stacie (Tony) Hawkins, Keith (Shannon) Chamberlain, and Jeff (Casey) Chamberlain; his grandchildren, Emily, Jordan, Dylan, Jennifer, Lauren, Luke, Joella, Lucia, Liza, Jed, Justin, and Wesley; his brothers, Roger (Diane) Chamberlain, Kevin (Faith) Chamberlain, Mark (Shari) Chamberlain, and Bruce (Melissa) Chamberlain; and by his many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at Resurrection United Methodist Church, 615 West FifteenthStreet in Hastings, with Reverend Dr. Christopher Kneen officiating. Private family interment at Lakeside Cemetery will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East SeventhSt., Hastings, and will continue on Friday morning for one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
