Miriam Delight Penrod

Miriam Delight Penrod, age 85, of Hastings, passed away at Regina Assisted Living on April 2, 2013. She was born on May 29, 1927 in Hastings to Grant and MattieTurngren. On July 12, 1946 she married Diehl Penrod at the First Baptist Church in Hastings. Prior to marriage, she worked at the British Information Services in Washington, D.C. She was a wonderful mother and she loved cats! Miriam stayed very active in her younger years. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, the United Methodist Church and delivered many lunches with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed her travels, and spending her spare time reading and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Diehl; and brothers, Dave and Dan Turngren. Miriam is survived by her children, Delight (Nick) Yokanovich; Wayne (Lynn) Penrod; and Suellen (Paul) Weber; grandchildren, Nick (Tara); Grant; Alex (Sandy); Sarah (Scott); Nathan; Caitlin; and Erin (Jamie); great grandchildren, Aidan; Liam; Teagan; Kelsey; Korynne; Sawyer; and Henry; sister, Martha Sickafus; other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service, officiated by Gordon Gathright, will be held on Monday, (4/8) at 11:00 a.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday (4/7) from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday. The Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
