Mildred "Millie" M. Ruhr, age 104, passed away on March 2nd, 2026 at Hastings Senior Health Living.
Millie was born May 13, 1921 in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. The third daughter of Charles H. and Sophia (Fournier) Rosenberger, Millie grew up on the family vegetable and dairy farm. In 1939 Mildred graduated from South St. Paul High School. She attended Rasmussen Business college and began employment doing secretarial work for various federal government agencies. In 1943 during WWII, Millie traveled to Vallejo, CA to marry Edward William Ruhr, who was stationed there in the Marine Corps. They were married for almost 65 years until his passing in 2009. They lived in many towns: South St. Paul, Redwood Falls, St. Cloud, Rochester, Rice Lake, WI, Sun City, AZ and Las Vegas, NV. Mildred loved art and studied wherever they went. She did china painting, watercolor, and oil painting. She also liked to garden, shop for antiques, and entertain. She loved children and became the favorite aunt and neighbor to many children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward William; and her five sisters, Hazel Brannan (Earl), Marjorie Reil (Norman), Sophie Riley (James), Cecilia Holste (Earl), Jane Brenna (Duane); and her brother, Charles T. Rosenberger (Marge); and her cat, Tinkerbell. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Ruhr Steffenhagen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:30AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with visitation starting at 10:00AM. Interment will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Inver Grove Heights.
