Mildred E. Rother

Mildred E. "Millie" Rother, age 98 of Hastings died Wednesday, January 27, 2016, surrounded by family. Mildred Elizabeth was born November 2, 1917 in Hampton Township, Dakota County to William and Anna (Reinardy) Giefer. She married Leo William "Butch" Rother on January 20, 1940 in Hampton. Mildred was a long-time employee with 3M and retired in 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo; son Mike; son-in-law Bob Clark; siblings Delores Larson, Melvin Giefer, Edna Wikstrom and Evelyn Sabo. Mildred is survived by her children Jean (Phil) Savoie, Kathy (Jerry) Weiskopf, Richard "Dick" (Donna) Rother, Annette Clark and Kris (Lenny) Ellingson; daughter-in-law Pat Rother; also 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brothers William (Bernise) Giefer and Donald (Joanne) Giefer; brother-in-law Gene Sabo and sister-in-law Carole Giefer; also many other relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, officiated by Fr. T. J. McKenzie. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Ryan Rother, Shane Rother, Steve Reinardy, Becky Savoie, Collette Savoie and Ron Weiskopf.
