Mildred E. "Millie" Overmeyer, age 95 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday evening, March 25, 2020, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Mildred E., the daughter of Terrell and Edna Havling, was born on January 30, 1925, in Maynard, Indiana. On December 29, 1941, Millie was united in marriage to Fred Overmeyer in Indiana. While Fred was in the service, Millie traveled along as Fred was trained/worked as an airplane mechanic at multiple Army Airforce bases in the U.S. While raising their four children they moved to Hastings in 1962 following Fred’s job at the oil refinery in Pine Bend. Millie later began working at Smead Mfg. until her retirement. Fred and Millie then enjoyed wintering in McAllen, Texas and summered in Bemidji until Fred’s health forced them to return to Hastings. Millie was a very strong person who was devoted to her family. She was a dedicated and caring friend, and was always willing to help someone in need. Even through retirement, Millie enjoyed keeping busy no matter where they were. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her siblings, LeRoy, Roland, and Fern. Mildred is survived by her children, Bonnie (Quinton) Weeks, Barbara "Bobbi" (Joseph) Kiemen, Melody Overmeyer, and John Overmeyer; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and also by many other relatives and close special friends. Private Family graveside services will be held on October 6, 2020, Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Due to Covid-19, the number in attendance is limited and masks are required.
