Michael Rischette

Michael T. Rischette, age 61, of Hastings died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Michael was born April 27, 1953 in Hastings to William and Florence (Hicks) Rischette. He was a 1971 graduate of Hastings High School and married Carol Grandia on August 7, 1976 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. He was employed with Gerdau Ameristeel. Michael loved to fish, hunt and spend time at his camper in Wabasha with family and friends. He was the most hard-working, kind and giving person and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mikes family and friends will always remember him for his sense of humor that could always put a smile on everyones face. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Gail (Rischette) Coss. Michael is survived by his wife Carol; children Tina and William; siblings Kent (Chris) Rischette, Lance (Deborah) Rischette and Norma Swanson; also four grandchildren, Abbie, Lucas, Mackenzie and Kage; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cora (Joe) Thomas, James (Donna) Grandia, Janet Grandia and Connie (Calvin) Rozenboom; also his dog, Jake. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. David Hennen will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 7, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St. in Hastings. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Monday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings and one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Matthew Rischette, Alex Rischette, Joel Swanson, Dusty McCrae, Ryan Beissel and Kyle Fox. Honorary pallbearers are Abbie Peters, Lucas Peters, Mackenzie Benedict and Kage Benedict.The family wishes to thank Dr. Groom, her team and the nursing staff at Regions Hospital for taking such good care of Michael.
