Michael R. Hovgaard

Michael Robert Hovgaard, age 62 of Woodbury, formerly of Hastings died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by all his "girls", following a briefbattle with cancer. Michael was born April 17, 1951 in Hastings to Emil Norris and Margaret Rose (Kieffer) Hovgaard. He was a 1969 graduate of Hastings High School and a St. Cloud State graduate. Michael married Cynthia Glass on July 19, 1975 in St. Peter, MN. He was a 30 year financial advisor with Edward Jones in Hastings. His beliefs and values included the power of positive thinking, giving back to the community, a strong work ethic and balancing work and family. His memberships over the years have included the Hastings Rotary Club, Miesville Lions Club, the Hastings Planning Commission, and he was an active member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and a former HYAA Youth coach. His hobbies included boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, hunting, snowshoeing, skiing, travel and reading. He was preceded in death by his father and sister Linda Mann. Mike is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cindy; two daughters Abra Hovgaard (Holly Hanson) and Jessica Hudson; granddaughter Felicity �Lulu� Hudson; mother Margaret �Marge� Hovgaard; sister Sharon (John) Mangan; and numerous other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Schaar�s Bluff Gathering Center at Spring Lake Park Reserve in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mike Hovgaard Leadership Scholarship Fund, 801 Pine St., Hastings, MN 55033.
