Michael John Kasel Jr.

Michael John Kasel Jr., age 76, of Hastings, Minnesota died peacefully at Tinta Wita Tippi Senior Living on Saturday, December 13, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.

Michael commonly known as “Mike” or “Kas” was born on May 15, 1949 to his parents, Michael John Sr. and Cecelia (Bauer) Kasel.

Mike graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1967. He enlisted shortly after in the US Air Force and departed to Vietnam at the age of 19. Nine months later he returned to California to complete his four years of service. He then became employed with the United States Postal Service at various locations, which he retired from at the age of 58.

Mike had a strong love for family and friends and didn’t lack on either. He loved bowling, ping-pong, animals, parties, bonfires, turkey hunting, antique cars, tomahawk tossing, and the list goes on.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Shirley Becker and Rosie Schaar.

Mike is survived by his siblings, Margie Hartung, Jerry Kasel, Karen Elliott, Jeanne (Bob) Weiers, Anita (John) Bahls, Maureen Kimmes; and by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
