Melvin"Mac" Mcgoon

Melvin �Mac� McGoon, age 90, of Hastings passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 25, 2011. Mac was born March 15, 1921 in Sandstone, MN. He served in the Army during WWII and married Donna Mae Schultz on March 6, 1943 in Winona. He was an avid golfer, card player, bowler and a private pilot for more than thirty years. A photographer and business owner, Mac was the founder of Mac McGoon Portrait and Design Studio in 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, and six siblings. Mac is survived by his son Randy (Jenny) McGoon; daughter Cindy (Armin) Hoffmann; grandchildren Matthew McGoon, Emily McGoon-Short, Aaron Hoffmann and Adam (Rachel) Hoffmann. The Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke will be held at 11am Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Our Saviour�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West Ninth St., Hastings. The visitation will be held at the church from 4-8pm Tuesday and after 9:30am Wednesday prior to the service. Interment with full military honors provided by the Hastings V.F.W. Lyle Russell Post #1210 will be held in Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. The pallbearers are Aaron Hoffmann, Katy Fraser, Matthew McGoon, Angie Clark, Adam Hoffmann, Rachel Egeberg-Hoffmann, Emily McGoon-Short, and Patrick Short. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
