Melvin A. Schanus, age 74, of Hastings, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings, MN. Melvin was born August 14, 1934 in Hampton, MN to Peter and Lucille (Blessner) Schanus. He married Marilyn Eshelmann July 19, 1958 in New Prague and had worked in the construction industry prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marilyn; son Martin; also several brothers and sisters. Melvin is survived by his daughter Michelle; sons Michael, Mark (Jamie), Mitchell (Theresa), and Monte; also 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; his brother Marvin and sisters Mickey and Lorraine.
