Maxine J. Wiech

Maxine Jane Wiech, age 79 of Hastings, passed away at home on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Maxine Jane, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Heitman) Diercks, was born in Lake City, Minnesota on August 14, 1938. Following her graduation from Red Wing High School, Maxine worked as a telephone operator. She was united in marriage to Dale Wiech on August 22, 1959. They moved to Hastings in 1963. She was involved in the Lionesses and Jaycees before working as an Administrative Assistant with the Minnesota Legislature for 27 years. Maxine enjoyed traveling, volunteering at Augustana, Hastings Family Service, Our Saviours Lutheran Church, and many other places.She enjoyed all sports, especially tennis and golf. Maxine was very involved at Our Saviours ever since she and Dale moved to Hastings. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Wiech; and siblings, Roger, Edith, Ralph, and Richard. Maxine is survived by children, Todd (Jamie) Wiech and Valerie (Scott) Schroeder; grandchildren, Courtney, Kyle, Nicholas, and Jaxon; sisters, Marcia, Ruth, Kathleen, and Judy; brothers, Stanley, John, Dean, and Jerry; special friend, Rudy Biaggio; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Doug Duin officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Thursday morning at church. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
