Maureen Myhre

Maureen Carrie Myhre, age 51, died unexpectedly at United Hospital in St. Paul in the early morning of Tuesday, May 9, 2017 as a result of cancer complications. She passed away while surrounded by her loving family. Maureen was born on June 21, 1965 to Marvin and Eilene Myhre. She grew up in Lino Lakes, MN and graduated from Centennial Senior High School in 1983. She had many careers and lived in several different cities before she moved to Hastings in 1995, where she lived until her death. Maureen was an energetic and fun-loving woman who could find the adventure in anything. She was dynamic and independent, and accomplished everything she put her mind to. She loved spending time with her children, being outdoors (particularly if gardening, camping, or snowshoeing), riding motorcycles, reading, and DIYing everything imaginable. In September of 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had been receiving treatment until her death. She faced this challenge with bravery and an incessant sense of humor. Unknown to her or her family, the cancer had spread to her liver and caused her sudden death. Her smile was infectious and will be missed by many. Maureen is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Myhre. She is survived by her mother, Eilene Myhre; children, Janie Myhre and Samuel Chapin; siblings Patrick (Joy) Myhre and Kelly (Scott) Nelson; many nieces and nephews; and her cat “son,” JJ. A memorial service celebrating Maureen’s life will be held on Saturday, June 3rd from 3-5pm at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring Street, Hastings MN 55033.
