Mary Kay Hoffman, age 81 of Hastings and formerly New Trier, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2018, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Mary Katherine, the daughter of Mathias and Christine (Gores) Siebenaler, was born north of New Trier on June 23, 1936. She was the fourth child in a family of nine children. After her 1954 graduation from Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, Mary met her future husband, Norbert Hoffman, in the choir loft of St. Marys Catholic Church in New Trier. For many years, starting when she was in elementary school, Mary played the church organ at St. Marys. She also directed many children and adult choirs. Mary and Norbert wed on June 29, 1957, at St Marys in New Trier. They soon settled on a small farm east of New Trier where they raised eight children. Mary had many diverse interests including traveling, flower gardening, bird watching, and baking bread. She was an astute student of history. And she enjoyed watching baseball with her best friend, Norbert. But by far, Marys biggest delight in life was spending time with her immediate and extended family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Norbert. Mary is survived by her children, Sharon (Greg) Endres, Paul, Jaci (Dan) Gergen, Pete, Joe (Kristy), Yvonne (Tom) Latuff, Dave (Shelly), and Doug; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Rev. Martin, Rev. Leonard, Rev. John, Therese, Donna (Jim) Niesen, Ed (Theresa), Ray (Karen), and Bernie (Joan); and by many relatives and dear friends from around New Trier and at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018, at St. Marys Catholic Church in New Trier, with siblings Father Martin, Leonard, and John Siebenaler officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings, and will continue from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at church on Monday morning.
