Mary "Betty" Schmitt

Mary "Betty" Schmitt, age 87, of Hastings, died Thursday July 3, 2014 at Augustana Health Care Center. Betty was born November 4, 1926 in Hastings, MN to Frank and Olive (Cullen) Heschke. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her garden, being outdoors and family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, 3 siblings, and 1 grandchild. She is survived by her sons Pat (Jane) Roger; 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; a sister Lois Anderson; a brother Alvin (Darlene) Heschke; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A Memorial Gathering will be held 6-8pm Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Chapel, 201 Seventh St. E., Hastings.
