Mary Ann, age 78, of Minneapolis. Lifetime resident of Minneapolis, born on March 8, 1931, baptized on March 31, 1931 and died on Thursday, September 18, 2008. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gladys & Jarl Olsen. She is survived by brother, Bob & wife, Marlene; nephews, Erik and Paul and their families, Norwegian relatives: aunt, Marit Stampen; cousins, Ingar, Olga, Magney, Gudbrand and Ingrit in Norway, Lynda Y. Olsen (Steve) and Will Young in Minneapolis; special dear friends, Eleanore & Walter Mathison, and a host of wonderful family and friends from the U.S., Canada and Norway. Mary Ann worked for Mpls. Public Schools from 1956-1984 as an elementary teacher, public television teacher and Assistant Personnel Director until her retirement. An avid reader and traveler, she always found joy in exploring something new and spending time in her showcase gardens. Her kindness, love and stately presence will be deeply missed. Memorial Service, 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church (Mindekirken) at 924 E. 21st Street in Minneapolis. Lunch will be served. Private interment at Hillside Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Central Lutheran Church Foundation, Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church or personal choice.
