Marjorie "Marge" Russell, age 90 of Hastings, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2026, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings.
Marjorie Joan, the daughter of Matthew and Violet (Johnson) Winkel, was born on March 5, 1935, in St. Paul. She was united in marriage to Edwin "Ed" Russell in St. Paul and they were blessed with five children and sixty-years of marriage prior to his passing on October 17, 2018. Marge was a longtime employee of the Federal Government. She loved gardening, Sudoku's and working on puzzles. Marge loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and the chance to decorate for various occasions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed; siblings, Ray (Marie) Winkel, Lucille (Morrie) Gale, and Herbert (Josephine) Winkel; and by her granddaughter, Sarah Russell.
Marjorie is survived by her children, William Russell, Jim (Mindy) Russell, Jerry (Michele) Russell, Nancy Rieschl, and Jean (Patrick) Kalbler; grandchildren, Nick (Christine) Russell, Ryan Sherry, Eric (Kelsey) Russell, Katie (Tom) Kennard, Nikole Sherry, Laura (Dennis) Russell-Reyna, and Colleen (Jake) Boothe; great grandchildren, Mika, Kinslee, Ellia, Noah, Liam, Wyatt, and Mack; great great grandchild, JD; and by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Pastor Karen Behling officiating. Interment will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service and to a luncheon immediately following the service, all at the funeral home on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to LifeSource, National Kidney Association, or to the donor’s choice in memory of Marge.
Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
