Marion B. Sorg

Marion B. Sorg, age 98 of Hastings, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Marion, the daughter of William and Tina (Miller) Lambrecht, was born on March 24, 1922, in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1940, Marion continued her education at Rasmussen Business School. She worked four years as a secretary in St. Paul. Marion was united in marriage to Loren Sorg on June 2, 1945. They were blessed with fifty-seven years of marriage, and fond memories of travel, farming, and family prior to his passing, February 19, 2003. Marion and Loren ran a generational dairy farm that celebrated 100 years of operation in 1996 and continues in the family today. Marion was a dedicated homemaker and aided Loren in numerous ways such as farm bookkeeper as well as caring for her family. She was a 75 year member of the United Methodist Church in Hastings, active with the Joy Circle, the United Methodist Women, and participated in many other ways. Marion was competitive in bowling, Scrabble, 500, and Upwards, and loved playing games with family and friends. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Marion was happy, enjoyed life and loved her family. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren Sorg; son, Gary Sorg; and two great grandsons. Survived by her children, Mary Lou (Roger) Foster, William (Juanita) Sorg, and Randy (Kelly) Sorg; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Renfrow and Emily (Lyle) Biscoe; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A private family graveside service was held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Memorial Service will be Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 at Resurrection United Methodist Church in Hastings. A gathering will held one prior to the service.
