Marie "Betty" Elizabeth Hoffman (Feidt), age 88 of Hastings, passed away peacefully at Augustana Care Center on Saturday evening, August 31, 2019, with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by her side. Betty was born in New Trier, Minnesota on March 15, 1931, she was the daughter of Susan (Herber) and Eugene Feidt. Betty was a member of the Women's Eagles Auxiliary in Hastings. Her family was her pride and joy and she truly loved spending quality time with all of them. Betty loved decorating for holidays, especially for Halloween and Christmas. Betty was an excellent cook, baker, loved sewing and music, dancing, and going to garage sales. She enjoyed fishing with family and friends, especially with her brother, and sister-in-law, Fritz and Marion. Betty also loved playing pull tabs, going on family casino runs where she was always the last one to bed, and bowling on a league with her dear friends, and their yearly tournament trips. Betty enjoyed watching her birds, planting flowers, and going for car rides. Betty absolutely loved life and always had a smile on her face, a famous blooper to laugh about, and will forever be remembered as Grandma Betty. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Theresa, Edward, Ray, Arnold, Bernard, and Rita; and by her son-in-law, Bradley "Brad" Anderson. Betty will be dearly missed by her children, Linda (Wyman) Johnson, Gary (Susan) Hoffman, Debra (Henry) Nawrocki, Mark (Debra) Hoffman, and Diana (the late Brad) Anderson; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Francis "Fritz" Feidt; sisters-in-law, MaryEllen Feidt and Marion Feidt; brother-in-law, Loren Bauer; and by many other family and friends. A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, with Gordon Gathright officiating. The family invites friends to join for a visitation from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. and to stay for a luncheon reception immediately following the service. Committal prayers for Betty will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery after lunch. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice in memory of Betty. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
