Marguerite L. Nearing

Nearing, Marguerite L., age 85, died 12/15/07. She was a former Hastings resident. Marguerite was born 5/17/1922 in Hastings to Byron Amelia (Spangenberg) Keene. She was a 1940 graduate of HHS and worked as a beautician in the cosmetology field. She married Fred W. Nearing. Marguerite was a former PTA president, Eastern Star member, Dakota Co. Republican Chairwoman, and girl scout leader for 25 years. She enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening. Marguerite was preceded by her parents, husband, sister Josephine Meeker. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Holm of New Richmond, OH Kathy Sorenson of Parker, CO; grandchildren Brock Sorenson of Burbank, CA, Scott Sorenson of Portland, OR, Steven Holm of North Hollywood, CA, Mark Holm, Kris Dollenmayer both of Cincinnati, OH; also 4 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Servicewill beheld at CATURIA-SMIDT FUNERAL HOME, 201 East 7th St. in Hastingsat 1:00 P.M.Wednesday, December 19thwith a visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
