Marcus A. Deutsch

Marcus A. Deutsch, age 83, of Hastings died Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Marcus was born April 16, 1926 in Eden, SD to Joseph and Mary (Trautner) Deutsch. He grew up on a farm in Eden, and had raised his family in Babbitt, MN. Marcus was an avid fisherman and a fisherman guide. He loved to golf, bowl, to play cards and baseball. He had worked for Reserve Mining as an electrician. He was preceded in death by his parents; also 10 brothers and sisters. Marcus is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Deutsch of Oakland, CA, Avis Ries of Hastings, Carey (Jerry) Brekken of Hastings, and Julie (Jack) Wendt of Edina; son Charles (Bonnie) Deutsch of Breezy Point; five grandchildren, Dreah, Carly, Kelly, Hailey, and Chloe; also six great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Marcella and Joann. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl will be held 11:00am Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth Street in Hastings, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
