Marcella M. "Marcy" Gabbert

Marcella "Marcy" Mary Gabbert, age 70 of Hastings, died peacefully at United Hospital in St. Paul, Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Marcy was born on November 4, 1947 to Peter and Gertrude (Dummer) Leifeld in Hastings. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1965 and went on to attend Beauty School. Following her schooling she married her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Gabbert on July 22, 1967. When she was not working as a beautician, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her siblings, Leonard Leifeld, Genevieve Wahlstrom, Loretta VanGundy, Lucille Nogle, and Theresa Leifeld. Marcy is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Brian Gabbert, Jamey (Donna) Gabbert, and Kevin Gabbert; grandchildren, Josh and Jessica Gabbert; sisters, Bernice (Nicholas) Otto and Patricia Serres; brother in law, Allen VanGundy; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Michael Barsness officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Monday morning. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
