M. Marlene Kranz

Mary Marlene (Mundt) Kranz, age 80, of Hastings, passed away on May 2, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. She was a graduate of Cathedral high School in Sioux Falls, SD. After raising four children, she purchased and operated a gourmet candy store in St. Paul. She enjoyed the last 25 years of her life as a 'winter Texan' in Southern Texas with her husband. She loved dancing, painting and many other activities at the resort. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Mabel (Whalen) Mundt; and her brother, Dr. Whitney R. Mundt. She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Kranz; children, David Kranz of Hudson, WI; Diane Zahorik of Portland, OR; Daniel Kranz of Hastings; and Theresa Kranz of St. Paul; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews, Michael and Stephen Mundt, both of the Washington, DC area. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 9, 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W. Hastings. Visitation will be held Friday, May 8 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring Street, Hastings and one hour prior to mass at church.
