Lyle Rupp, formerly of Hastings, passed away peacefully August 20, 2015 in Laurel, Montana surrounded by family and the presence of his Lord. He was 86 years old. Lyle was born and raised in Park City, MT where he worked his parents farm. He loved playing basketball on the high school team and was known for his left handed hip shot. Lyle served in the Navy from 1948 to 1952 when honorably discharged. He returned to Montana and married his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Heimbichner. During retirement, Lyle and Dorothy enjoyed wintering in Tucson, AZ and spending summers in Hastings. After Dorothy passed away in 2006, Lyle returned to live in Montana in 2008. In 2010, Lyle married Laura Frank in Laurel, where they resided. They traveled and stayed close to family and friends.He was preceded by his parents, John and Mollie (Frank) Rupp; his brother, Clarence; and by his sister, Violet Evett. Lyle is survived by his wife Laura Frank; three sons Doug (Diane) of Cottage Grove, Greg (Linda DuB) of Hastings, Gerry (Carol) of Hastings; also six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; many step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Lyle is also survived by his sister, Gladys Besel of Billings, MT. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings officiated by Rev. Duane Sarazin, followed by a private interment.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Legion Post 47 in Hastings or to the donor's choice.
