Luverne O. “Lou” Balgaard

Age 84 of Burnsville, born on the farm in Evansville, MN to Melvin & Gladys Balgaard, passed away Sep. 30, 2017.  Lou served as a Corporal in the US Army in Salzburg, Austria. He then worked for Honeywell until his retirement. He was active with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in “The Church Mice Group”.  Lou was also a great handyman and loved tinkering and refurbishing motorcycles and cars.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Elvina; brothers: Roger, Dennis and Truman and nephew, Leslie.  Lou will be missed by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia; sister, Beverly (Robert) Bonkoski; brothers, Marvin and Ronald; sister-in-law, Joanne; 9 nieces and nephews and other family and friends.  Memorial service, 11:00 am, Tuesday Oct. 10, 2017 with visitation one hour before at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13801 Fairview Dr., Burnsville.  Lou will be laid to rest at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery
