Louis William Reis, 76 of Remer and formerly of Rosemount, Minnesota, passed away Thursday in Rosemount surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 11, 1934 in Saint Paul to Louis William and Eva (nee Diess) Reis. Louis served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Gunner’s Mate aboard the USS Iowa (BB-61, ‘The’Big Stick’). He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Ellen (nee Stehr), daughters Susan (late Ray) Brown, Laurie (Jeff) May, and LuEllen Reis, sons Michael (Peggy) and Joseph (Cindee) Reis, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Mary (late Leonard) Tri, and brothers Jim (Joanne) and Dick (Shirley) Reis. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, 4 brothers, and mother-in-law Helen Stehr. Louis was a member of Rosemount American Legion Post #65 and VFW Post #9433. He also loved the lake and being with his family. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 AM Monday, November 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 13900 Biscayne Avenue, Rosemount. Visitation 4-7 PM Sunday, November 14 at the Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue, Apple Valley, (952) 432-2331, and 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment is at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
