Lorraine L. Friese-Pommerening

Lorraine L. Friese-Pommerening, age 62, of Rochester passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Lorraine was born February 27, 1949 in Long Prairie, Minnesota to Reuben C. and Cyrilla V. (Ley) Friese. Lorraine attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1967. On September 14, 1968 she married Donald F. Pommerening in New Trier, Minnesota. Don and Lorraine shared four children from this union, Denise Koziara, Deborah (Randy) Chandler, Linda (Jeff) Partington, and Leah (John) Hunt. Lorraine enjoyed fishing and always claimed she had sea legs. She enjoyed spending time with her family and would play cards with who ever was willing. She enjoyed going for road trips and would make Don stop the vehicle at every �old� barn she saw so they could get a picture to add to the album. She always looked forward to spring time to see the gardens Don would plant to her specifications. Lorraine loved to write her thoughts down on paper and left her children many handwritten memories. She was an avid Twins fan and was excited to be able to attend her first Twins ballgame with Leah, John and Don. Her theory was that when the Twins did well, it was because she was watching and rooting for them. Her family will always cherish the memories and remember her as a loving, kind and caring person. She made the most out of each and every day and enjoyed the simple things in life. Lorraine is survived by her children, sons-in-law; life partner and soul mate Don; grandchildren Ryan Langenfeld, Chelsey Chandler, Justin Chandler, Abigayle Hunt, Jonathon Hunt; great-grandchild Kaylee Langenfeld; aunts, uncles, many nephews and nieces; siblings Kathy (Jim) Fick, Gene (Bonnie) Friese, and Paulette (Kenneth) Friesen. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and grandsons Nathan and Nicholas Partington. A Memorial Service will be held 11am Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings with a gathering one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary�s Cemetery, New Trier.
