Lorraine F. Metzger

Lorraine F. Metzger, age 78, of Hastings, passed away at home July 22, 2014. She was born June 21, 1936 in Cannon Falls to John and Mildred Illa. She married Tom Metzger on Sept. 2, 1967 in Watertown, SD. Lorraine was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hastings. She was an avid volunteer, spending much of her time helping the Regina Women’s Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Lakeside Cemetery, Wise Penny Thrift Store and St. John’s Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents; and brother in law, Dick Sanders. Lorraine is survived by, children, Kim (Randy) Cochran; Jim (Julia) Metzger; Karen (Howard) Rushton; and Valerie (Troy) Tverberg; grandchildren, Kyle (Stacey); Shannon (Joe) Recker; and Trey Cochran; Alex (fianc Jill); Austin & Avery Metzger; Jordan & Thomas Rushton; Courtney; Jasmine & Bianca Tverberg; great granddaughters, Ella and Lilly Recker; sisters, Lois Sanders; and Shirley (Vernon) Munger; other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service, officiated by Reverend Percy Damrow, will be held Saturday (7/26) at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 202 8th St W, Hastings. Visitation will be Friday (7/25) from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings and 1 hour prior to services at church. Interment at Lakeside Cemetery.
