Loretta M. Mailand, age 89 of Hastings, formerly of Newport, died peacefully on Friday morning, April 7, 2017, at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Benson MN on November 22, 1927 to Edgar and Rose (O'Connor) Simenstad. Preceded in death by husband Richard; parents Rose and Ed Simenstad; brothers Ed Jr. and Richard. Survived by sons Mark (Diane), Scott (Nancy), Kent (Shuchen); 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; oldest friend Louisa. Private family memorial service will be held at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Hastings. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
