Loren "Peewee" W. Wical

Loren "PeeWee" Wical, age 80 of Hastings, died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 9, 2017, following an extended illness. Loren Wendell, the son of Lesie and Mabel (Gorseth), was born on October 1, 1936, in Page, North Dakota. Following his education, Loren was a longtime electrician, first as an apprentice in the Taconite Plants, and then spent the rest of his career at Clinton Electric. On June 3, 1963, Loren was united in marriage to Deloryce Diemert in South Dakota. They later moved to Hastings in 1969 where they raised their seven children. Loren loved to hunt and fish over the years, and of course watching his T.V. He also had a passion for sports and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Loren also loved bowling, playing a little golf, and spending time with his family at the cabin he built by hand in Hayward, Wisconsin. Loren was a longtime member of the Eagles Club in Hastings and the IBEW 292. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his two sisters and two brothers. Loren is survived by his wife, Deloryce; his children, Kelly (Nestle) Wical, Don (Diane) Wical, Kim (Larry) Senne, Ron Wical, Kathy Wical, Steve Wical, and Joe (Renae) Wical; his nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his sisters, Dorie Burdick and Joyce Grey; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, Hastings. Visitation will be held at church for one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday. Private family interment will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Lorens family request memorials be made to Allina Hospice in his memory. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
