Linda M. Helten

Linda Helten, age 68 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020. Linda Marie, the daughter of Raymond and Annetta Larson, was born on May 20, 1952. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1970, Linda attended training for the airline industry for a brief time, and later obtained her LPN degree from Rochester Technical College. She then worked for Methodist Hospital in Rochester, and eventually received her RN degree from Inver Hills Community College. Linda was a longtime Labor & Delivery Charge Nurse at Regina Medical Center in Hastings, and retired in 2016. Even after retirement, Linda's passion for nursing continued as she kept current on her CEU's in order to keep her RN License current. Linda was united in marriage to Lester "Les" Helten on August 2, 1975, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Hastings. In their younger years, they enjoyed riding motorcycles, league bowling, and traveling. Linda also enjoyed fishing, making custom greeting cards with her sister Ruth, playing Euchre with her best friends, and always loved reading a good book. She was a very talented cook and baker, often times making the best pies, waffles, and cutout cookies with her grandson Casey. Most of all, she enjoyed traveling to various places with Les, watching the Minnesota Twins & Wild games, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a child in infancy. Linda is survived by her husband, Les; children, Melissa (Kelly) Gove and Dustin Helten; one grandchild, Casey; siblings, Ruth (Cal) Ruedy, Dave (MaryLou) Larson, Lloyd Larson, and John Larson; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. A Celebration of Linda's Life will be held 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020, at Cornerstone Bible Church in Hastings, with Pastor Jim Bzoskie officiating. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and to a lite reception immediately following the service, all at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in memory of Linda. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
