Linda Elaine Stokes went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 87 on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2026. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, graciousness, dedication to prayer, and her love of chocolate ice cream.
She was born to Arlan and Effie Moore on August 22, 1938, in Malden, Missouri. She was a 1955 graduate of Malden High School and married her high school sweetheart, John Rodney Stokes, in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1957 where he was serving in the U.S. Air Force at Keesler AFB. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord as a “stay at home mom”, loving first of all the Lord Jesus Christ, then her husband, next her family and finally, many, many friends as she and her husband and 2 children traveled from coast to coast, living in many states until they were finally able to settle down in Apple Valley, Minnesota in 1979.
Survivors include her loving husband John, of 68+ years, their daughter Tammy Feigal and husband John, their 4 children, Justin (Mary) Feigal, Jessica (Matthew) Borchardt, Jeffrey (Laura) Feigal, Christopher (Emily) Feigal, their son, Rodney Stokes and wife Jean Ann, their 3 children, John (Peyton) Stokes, Mark, (Lara) Stokes, and Emily Stokes. Linda and John have 17 great grandchildren, 8 in Minnesota and 9 in Texas.
Linda was preceded in death by her father and mother, Arlan and Effie Moore, two brothers, Clifford and Kenneth Moore, and one sister, Algene Smith.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026, at South Suburban Evangelical Free Church, 12600 Johnny Cake Ridge Road in Apple Valley, with Pastor Mike Strand officiating. Interment will be held at Lebanon Cemetery in Apple Valley.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Starkson Family ~ Anderson Chapel, 14850 Garrett Avenue, Apple Valley. Although there will not be a visitation at church on Thursday, we invite you to join us for a luncheon at church following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to South Suburban Evangelical Free’s benevolence fund in honor of Linda's lifelong dedication to helping others.
Linda will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever remain a source of inspiration.
