Lillian H Lanman

Lillian H. Lanman, age 100, of Hastings, passed away May 27, 2016. Lillian was born on June 16, 1915 in Alida, Minnesota, the daughter of Jennie (Erikson) and G. Adolph Bjelke. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Following the death of Lillian's father (1918); her mother, brother Bjorn and Lilliam sailed on the Stavangerfjord to Norway. There they resided until 1925 when they returned to their farm in Alida, MN. In her early years she worked as a nanny and as a dining room coordinator for Itasca State Park's Douglas Lodge. She was united in marriage to Arnold Revere Lanman on June 25, 1939. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage. They made their home in McIntosh, where they operated the Lanman Oil Company for 30 years. During WW II, Lillian traveled to Portland/Vanport, Oregon, where she was employed by Boeing Shipyards. Lillian was a dedicated homemaker, nursing home caregiver and always filling in where ever needed. She enjoyed people, dancing, fishing, walking, organizing 'Kiddie Parades' and traveling throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. Mom truly treasured many lovely friendships and never met a stranger, finding joy in each and every day. Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; parents; and brother, Bjorn Bjelke. She is survived by her daughters, Abby Ann Lanman and LaRae (Harold) Kaupang; grandchildren, Michelle (Richard) Kirk and Ross (Tracy) Kaupang; great grandchildren, Maelyn, Henry, Noah, Elin and Brennen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday (6/1) from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. A funeral service will be held on Saturday (6/4) at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh. Interment Our Savior's Cemetery, McIntosh.
