Leroy Jiggs Rother

LeRoy �Jiggs� Rother, age 79 of Hastings, died October 9, 2013 at his residenceLeRoy was born September 29, 1934 in Hastings to Edward and Cecelia (Schaffer) Rother. He served in the US Army from 1955-1957 and married Katherine Kleis on October 7, 1961 at Guardian Angels Church in Hastings. Jiggs was the former owner/operator of Eagan Hardware Hank from 1977-1996. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Donald, James, Edward and Leonard. Jiggs is survived by his wife Katherine �Kathy�; daughter Renee (John) Moskal of Eau Claire; sons Joe (Christy) Rother of Savage and John (Lisa) Rother of So. St. Paul; grandchildren Pete, Nate, Jake, Sam, Ellie, Sarah, and Megan; sister Lois Bauer of Miesville; brothers Raynard Rother of Welch and Charles (Marilyn) Rother of Hastings; sisters Marlene (Larry) O�Neill of Byron, MN and Sharon Tornes of Woodbury; sisters-in-law Betty Rother and Mary Rother. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl, will be held 10:30 AM Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St, Hastings. Visitation will be held at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings from 4-7 PM Sunday and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment, with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are his seven grandchildren.
