Leroy J. Wagner

LeRoy J. Wagner, age 76 of Vermillion, died peacefully on Thursday morning, June 7, 2018, at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation in Prescott. LeRoy Joseph, the son of Aloys and Susan (Siebenaler) Wagner Sr., was born on August 28, 1941, in Hastings. Following his attendance at Hastings High School, LeRoy was united in marriage to Alice Black and they were blessed with four children, Joe, Jim, Tom, and Shari, prior to later divorcing. LeRoy was a longtime employee at Cenex, and retired after thirty-five years of employment. He will always be remembered as the go-to guy for getting something fixed for family and friends. LeRoy loved to tinker with things, and always found the right bolt or screw to fix whatever he was working on. He was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion. Most of all, LeRoy was a dedicated father and grandfather, and always made sure to put his family first. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Alice Elevrum (nee Black); brother, Al Wagner; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wagner; and by his deeply missed grandson, Josh Wagner LeRoy is survived by his children, Joe (Kathy) Wagner, Jim (Apryl) Wagner, Tom (Tammy) Wagner, and Shari (Farrel) Byrd; grandchildren, Jake, Jessica, Tyler, Cody, Courtney, Brooklyn and Berlyn; siblings, Betty (Paul) Reuter, Ralph Wagner, Earl (Mary) Wagner, and Paul (Donna) Wagner; sister-in-law, Mary Wagner; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion, with Father Cole Kracke officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings, and will continue at church for one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday morning. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care shown to our father while he resided there.
