LeRoy was born in Vermillion Township, Minnesota on January 21, 1926, son of Vincent James Rother and Catherine Wagner. LeRoy died on March 28th, 2021, surrounded by family and under the care of Allina Health Hospice. At age 6, his family moved out of town on to his grandpa Vincent Franz Rother’s farm, just 3 miles out of Vermillion. His seven siblings walked three miles into town to attend school. He left home on December 11, 1944 at age 18 to join the Merchant Marines, serving 2.5 years. He met the love of his life, Deloris Wagner through friends and they were married on June 23, 1948 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. The couple lived and raised their seven children in Vermillion. LeRoy’s faith and family were very important to him. LeRoy was a man of great talent for carpentry. Whether it was building houses, decks, bird houses, or for his grandchildren, wooden barns or doll houses. Remaining to carry on his good works are his seven children and their families, Cathy (Ron) Kirchner of Hastings, Steve (Rhonda) Rother of Hastings, Judy Rother of Cannon Falls, Barb (Jim) Field of White Bear Lake, Marlene (Terry) Serres of Hastings, Pat of Hastings, and Peg (Kevin) Dobias of Rosemount; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; he is also survived by one sibling, Beatrice (Dean) Falls of Gordon WI; and many other family and friends. Eagerly awaiting him at heaven’s gate are his parents; his wife, Deloris; grandchild, Mark Kirchner; siblings, Andrew "Bud", Joseph, Raymond, Theresa, Rose, Albert, and Eugene; 2nd cousin, Blessed Father Stanley Rother; in-laws, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at church. Interment will follow mass at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Vermillion.
