Leonard "Len" Ray Gudmunson

Leonard R. Gudmunson, age 78 of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, October 5, 2024.

Len was born June 9, 1946 to Ralph and Orvilla (Jacobs) Gudmunson in Yankton, South Dakota.

He married the love of his life, Kay Colombo on June 27, 1970. They spent 44 years in Minneapolis, raising three children before settling in Hastings, Minnesota.

He proudly served in the Army for three years, part of which was in Vietnam. Len was very passionate about being a Veteran. He was active in Veterans groups such as the VFW, Cooties and previously Pointman Ministries.

He enjoyed photography, golf, wine trips with friends and lefse making with family. His greatest pride and joy were all eight of his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Kay Gudmunson; parents, Ralph and Orvilla Gudmunson; and by his brothers, Larry Gudmunson and Loren (Sherri) Gudmunson.

Len is survived by his children, Kim (Joe) Pond, Erik (Sheless) Gudmunson, Scott (Vicki) Gudmunson; Jaxon, Mya, Madeline, Clara, Kaitlin, Austin, Jasmine, Matthew; sister, Barbie (David) Whale; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chuck (Vicki) Colombo; and by many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings with a visitation from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Memorial Honor Guard provided by Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 and the funeral ritual of the Military Order of the Cootie.

Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis at a later date.
